NON-VENOMOUS
Description: The glossy snake lives up to its namesake with its shiny, smooth scales. It has a light brown body with dark blotches running down the center of its back. Smaller blotches are found along its sides. The belly is plain and light-colored, and it has a single anal plate.
Size: Adults 26 - 36 inches (66 - 91 cm)
Prey: Lizards and small rodents
Reproduction: Mates in spring and lays 3 - 20 eggs in the summer. Eggs typically hatch in 2 - 3 months.
Habitat: Open sandy areas
Other Information: This snake is usually active in the evening during the warmer months. It is a fine burrower and will usually vibrate or buzz its tail when disturbed
